Once you or a close friend or family member finds out about a pregnancy you can’t help but start to plan a baby shower. It’s almost a right of passage in pregnancy. Baby showers are exciting and help the expected mom gather as much items she may need before she welcomes her new baby into the world.
The issue that has been arising in recent years is that women believe you need to spend a lot of money and create a lavish party for baby showers. In reality, that isn’t necessary to throw a memorable party and make the soon to be mommy very happy. The whole point of a baby shower is to show the mommy that she is important and that you all care about the baby and her. There’s no need to spend thousands to make her feel special.
You can show support without breaking the bank. Here are some great tips to throw an amazing shower while staying on budget.
If you happen to have decorations from a precious baby shower you have hosted, go ahead and use them! There’s no point to spend money on the same decorations when you already have some stored away. Using your own baby’s items and friend’s baby’s items for decorations also works really well. For an example: stuffed animals, bottles, books and toys. Get creative and have fun.
Eat Off Your Own Dishware
Don’t waste money on disposable dishware and cups. Use your own plates, bowls, cups and silverware. You’ll save a lot of money if you do this. The only negative aspect is that you’ll have a lot of dishes to wash later once the party is over.
Shop at the “Buy in Bulk Stores”
Go to Sam’s Club, BJ’s or any other warehouse store you live close to. Buy most of the food items in large bulk boxes. You’ll save a lot of money doing it this way. Also, if you have left overs you can always save them for your family to snack on during the next few weeks.
Bake the Cake Yourself
Make it fun and have some of the other ladies involved. You can all bake the cake yourself and make it a lot more personable. While you’re at it you can bake some brownies and cupcakes too. You’ll save a few bucks doing the work yourself instead of paying someone to do it for you.
Baby Gifts on a Budget
It’s hard to find that perfect gift for an expected baby without going overboard and spending hundreds of dollars. You might want to consider giving creative gifts like coupons for babysitting, coupons for house cleaning or a creative gift basket with a few smalls items needed to care for a newborn. New moms need all the help they can get with a new baby welcoming at their home. They will appreciate the offer of help versus an expensive gift any day. Caring for a newborn can become overwhelming especially if they have other children at home too.
