A baby formula have been a staple for mothers for years now, and has served as a quick means of nourishment for babies when breast milk is not available. It can be said that it is one of the building blocks to a baby’s development and good health. I am not saying that it is better than breast milk, but I will say that it has a purpose and it will give babies the nutrition and supplements they need to survive and live life. There are such a variety of formulas available today and very difficult to pick the best one. It makes you ask yourself are all baby formulas created equal.
What’s the difference?
I’m sure you’ve noticed that there may be baby formula cans that say DHA , ARA or some other special ingredient. Well, that is virtually the difference. Pretty much every formula has six main ingredients such as protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. Whatever special specific carbohydrate or protein it uses makes one formula different from the next. Some formulas are made specifically for premature babies, so the ingredients in that formula will be the things that this baby needs to survive. Your doctor should be able to assist you on finding the right baby formula for your baby’s needs. Your baby may be allergic to certain things and you should know that there is a special formula that will fit your baby.
The many forms of formula
You can find formula in three different forms such as liquid concentrated, ready-to-use, and powder. Each one comes with their own specific instructions. If you are looking for the most convenient formula, the ready-to-use formula is the one to pick. It is used by hospitals and there is no mixing or measuring. All you do is open and serve it. It is great for people with limited access to water. Newborns are often fed this type of formula in hospitals. If you are looking for the most inexpensive formula, the powdered formula is the one to choose. It will take more time to get it ready for the baby to consume, but it will save you money in the long run.
There are formulas that are soy based, cow’s milk based and lactose free. Whatever issues your baby may have, the formula world has you covered. Research has found that soy based formula is good for babies with colic. Whatever condition your baby has, check with your doctor first before trying something new, just to make sure it will be beneficial and not harm the baby.
Personally I wanted to know what formula tasted like so I tried some. It tasted horrible to me, but I guess babies have nothing to compare it to, so they will drink it right up.
