Mocktails for Mom

Every nursing or pregnant mom knows that sacrifices have to be made when bringing a little one into the world. But despite how bad things may seem, giving up your favorite cocktail and martini will not be the death of you. Here are some unique party drinks for moms that are easy to make and so tasty you won’t even miss the alcohol.

This first recipe is for a simple, non-aloholic Mock Champagne. This easy punch that can be served at parties or baby and bridal showers. All that’s required are:

2 (2 liter) bottles of chilled ginger ale
1 (64 fluid ounce) bottle chilled white grape juice
1 (46 fluid ounce) can chilled pineapple juice

Simply stir the ingredients in a large punch bowl and enjoy.

This next recipe is for what’s known as the Cran-daddy Cooler – a cooler with a poignant cranberry and pineapple tang. You will need:

2 cups cranberry juice
1 cup pineapple juice
1 cup orange juice
1 jar maraschino cherries
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 bottle ginger ale
1 orange, sliced in rounds (or lime, if you prefer)

To make, mix the fruit juices in a large pitcher. Add ginger ale shortly before serving and stir well. Serve with ice. You may also choose to ornament the beverage with a cherry and citrus slices.

Here’s a drink that requires a bit more effort to make, but you won’t regret putting it in. It is for a delicious Non-alcoholic Mojito. You’ll require:

2 cups water
1 ½ cups white sugar
2 cups chopped mint leaves
2 cups lime sherbet
1 cup lime juice
1 cup water
8 cups club soda
Lime slices (optional)

1. Mix the 2 cups of water with sugar in a microwave-safe bowl. Pop it in the microwave on for 5 minutes on High. Add the mint leaves and stir. Let sit for 5 minutes. You will end up with a minty syrup. Strain the mixture and set the mint leaves aside.
2. Stir together the lime sherbet, lime juice, and 1 cup water in a large pitcher. Add the syrup and club soda to the new mixture and stir. Serve over ice and add lime slices if desired.

Every mom wants what’s best for her baby, but that doesn’t mean we should give up on having a good time. Every party benefits from refreshing beverages, but a non-alcoholic concoction can be just as enjoyable as a cocktail. The designated drivers will appreciate special drinks as well.
